The North Dakota Women’s Network (NDWN) has the amazing opportunity to provide an incredible hand-on learning experience for women, right in our state’s capital. For one day, February 11, 2009, our members as well as women from across the state will be in the epicenter of our state’s legislative activity. WE Rise: Women Empowered will offer behind the scenes insight, meetings with our local lawmakers, and training on how to lobby. Women will have the experience of a lifetime.
The very core of the work we do at the NDWN is to empower women. Demystifying the legislative process is the first step to women’s political participation. WE Rise: Women Empowered is that step where women will learn, participate, carry their enthusiasm home to the other women in their lives and have the opportunity to say “represent me”. The four focus areas of freedom from violence, reproductive health, women’s economic security, and education allow and encourage women to advocate for strong public policy in the justice areas they care about most.
There is much work to do to improve the lives of women across the state. The last election cycle resulted in a drop in the number of women in the legislative body to a disappointing 15.9%. The time has come for the women of North Dakota to unite and have our voices heard. WE Rise: Women Empowered is this opportunity and will be a truly historic day for our state! Never before in the history of North Dakota has a women’s lobby day like this existed and it is time.
For detailed information on both of these historic events and to register please visit www.standupnd.org.

North Dakota Women's Network
June 14, 2006
Dear Friend,
We are pleased to announce the North Dakota Women’s Network (NDWN) and extend a heartfelt invitation to you to join the Network as a charter member. We believe your support and investment in the NDWN is instrumental in ensuring the successful launch of the organization.
We need your voice to help direct the work and achieve the many goals of the NDWN. While many organizations in North Dakota work to improve the lives of women, there has not been a single group that specifically addresses the wide-range of issues effecting North Dakota women.
Collectively, women in North Dakota do not have current, effective communication tools to reach and inform one another of needs and progress. Because of this, concerned women came together to discuss and formulate the means necessary for the advancement of North Dakota women in the areas of health and well-being; employment and earnings; reproductive rights; social and economic autonomy; political participation; violence against women; education; and validation of women’s life choices.
The group recognized the need to build a formal network to address the many concerns of North Dakota women. As a result, the North Dakota Women’s Network was formed with the following mission:
As leaders, the North Dakota Women’s Network (NDWN) will serve as the catalyst for improving the lives of women through communication, legislation and increased public activism.
We invite you to join us in achieving our mission! NDWN will exist as a grassroots organization to improve women’s lives. In order to accomplish this, we need you. Included in this letter is a survey requesting your ideas regarding important issues affecting North Dakota women, ways to achieve the mission of NDWN, and your willingness to contribute. Additionally, membership registration is provided, which offers information on dues and a statement of commitment to the purposes of the Network. Please review these items and return them to Renee Stromme. We appreciate your help and eagerly await your input and support. Together we can raise each other up!
Sincerely,
Renee Stromme
